With there experience in domain name registration, GoDaddy.com soon went into the web hosting service business. They offer an excellent product that includes plans available for almost any type of personal and business web sites. To get the most out of your hosting, GoDaddy.com also offers over 30 free applications that can be easily installed through there custom control panel software. GoDaddy.com Metropolis Hosting Community contains a resource center and an active community forum which gives you feedback and user reviews on all the applications.
Current Special Offer: From $2.89 to $3.99 per month for a shared hosting plan (save up to %30).
With all hosting plans you have the choice of either a Windows or Linux OS (no price difference). The installed features available between the two operating systems are similar with the exception of the available scripting languages. With Windows you have access to ASP, ASP.NET and Frontpage server extensions. On the database side you can use MS Access, MS SQL and MySQL.
On the Linux boxes you can use PHP 4, PHP 5, (with custom php.ini files), Perl, Python CGI and Ruby on Rails. With databases you can only use MySQL. Since PHP is installed, there are many free add-on applications you can use. This includes popular blogging software like WordPress, Geeklog and Joomla to image software like Gallery. Both Windows and Linux servers have a fair number of these types of scripts (forums, blogging, polls, images, etc.) that can be preinstalled.
Here are the current plans available from GoDaddy.com.

The Economy Plan with it's shared hosting is ideal for most individuals and small to medium-sized business. GoDaddy.com Deluxe Plan, the Virtual Dedicated Server, offers convenience and cost-effective server control along with full admin access and up to 3 dedicated IP addresses. The Premium Plans with there Dedicated Servers have the ultimate in performance and server control. They feature an IntelĀ® Celeron, Pentium, or Core 2 duo processor, up to 2,000 GB bandwidth, up to 2 X 300 GB disk drivers, up to 2 GB RAM, and with full server administrator access.
One downside to GoDaddy.com hosting plans is the use of their own control panel. The ease of use and the features available is not comparable to cPanel or plesk.
Best known for their domain names, GoDaddy.com
still offers the cheapest available prices.
With affordable and full service hosting plans GoDaddy.com offers an excellent value for most people's web hosting needs. GoDaddy.com is the first web hosting provider to receive a 10 out of 10 in our rating based on costs and features.
With over a 99.9% hardware uptime, GoDaddy.com world class data centers use name brand routers, firewalls and servers. Everything at there data centers is completely owned and operated by GoDaddy.com, nothing goes through 3rd parties. All hosting plans comes with 24/7 software monitoring and physical security. Daily backups are also performed to ensure no loss of data.
GoDaddy.com offers both 24x7 email and toll free telephone support. Email reply times average just under 5 hours while telephone support can take anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes to talk to a live person. As with other hosting providers there is also articles and user forums from where you can seek information and help.
There are two things that GoDaddy.com lacks in customer support, the first one being live chat support. This is usually my first choice for communicating with web hosting companies. The second complaint against GoDaddy.com customer support is the quality of some of there support staff. There are a fair number of user reviews on the net that have mentioned this fact. Customer Supports solution for most problems tends to be resetting the server and wiping out all your settings and scripts.
In conclusion I do recommend GoDaddy for people looking for a fairly feature rich web server environment that offers high bandwidth at one of the lowest costs. If you are a complete newbie at web hosting and you are going to be relying heavily on customer support you may want to choose another solution. Of course GoDaddy.com extreme low startup cost may make it worth a try for most people since you will only be out your time and the monthly fee if you decide to go with another host.
