Google Toolbar Complaints
The first thing I like to say is, over all I like the Google Toolbar. I have been using it for years and it is only one of two toolbars I ever install for my browser(s).
The problem is this latest version (I don't know what the version number is) has a few annoying quirks, at least with Internet Explorer 8.
First of all, when I create a new tab, you get the Google Toolbar most visited page with thumbnail snapshots of the websites. I like this, but for some reason when this tab is created and you view the tab right away, it changes the focus of where you may be typing from, say the Google Toolbar search box to where the URL address bar is. This change of focus most times seem to have a delay of 1 to 3 seconds. So, I will be typing away in the Google search text box on the toolbar and then all of the sudden I am typing in the URL Address text/dropdown box.
The second thing that is annoying (and use to work just fine a few versions ago) is the Google search box autocomplete. The autocomplete works, but has a few quirks. I think it has to do with how close the mouse cursor is to the box when you are typing (mine is usually pretty close because I have just clicked on the search box to type in a search). For example, I will be typing in a search, say "Web Host", and the autocomplete will be working fine, bringing up suggestions, but when I hit enter on what I typed, it quickly switches what I typed for the first item in the autocomplete, which in this case would be "Web Hosts". Notice the extra "s".
The other thing the autocomple doesn't do properly is disappear after I have completed a search. It stays visible until I either click on the web page or click on the search box again and press the escape key. This is visible like this after a search, which means I can't see the first part of the webpage or use my favorites until I manually close it.
These Google Toolbar quirks I find extremely annoying and I hope to see them fixed in a future version soon.
